SuperCoach Rookie Pickups

AFL Round 5 is a big opportunity to pick up some late starting rookies

Podsiadly       +$107k  FWD
Schmidt       +$85k    DF
Rockliff           +$85k   FWD
Lucas            +$68k   MID
Colyer           +$59k   MID
Schofield     +$49k   DF
Melksham      +$42k   MID
Stratton       +$36k   DF

Recently Dropped

Howlett +$72k MID
Suckling +$41k DF

There is value in every position.

FWD

Podsiadly is setting the world on fire. The big question is : can he keep his spot? Pre-season talk that he would be pushed back to the rookie list is a concern. Will someone else get injured, allowing Pods his place?

Rockliff. Amazing pre-season form. Scoring great in the season too. Voss has flagged him as not in the top 22. That assumes, again, injuries. Every chance Rockliff will cement his spot in the next few weeks. Looks to be the better bet of the forwards.

DF

Schmidt. Well, haven't seen him play. The curse of free to air television in Melbourne. Ripper scores. Grab him if a spot needs filling in the backline. Definitely the pick of this week's rookies for a defender.

Schofield. Averaging around 70. Which is good, not great for a guy costing $170k.

Stratton. A big lump of a kid. Very unlikely to set the world on fire in SuperCoach.

Suckling. Gibson's injury should see Suckling be finally allowed to settle into the team.

MID

Lucas. Carlton's #1 draft pick. They have talked him up big time. Seems to be meeting expectations. Will surely be hampered by game time, even if he plays the entire season.

Colyer. An old style footballer. Not flashy. Very dependable. Gives his all. Very impressed by what I have seen. Questions over the dropping of Howlett. Will the two end up in and out of the team? Looks likely.

Melksham. Huge wraps from the Dons. Average scores so far. Could well pick it up.
