AFL Round 5 SuperCoach

AFL SuperCoach is still in its early stages. Looking for value picks is the key to SuperCoach success at this moment.

Faith must be maintained in the premium picks made pre-season. There should be no reason to alter them. In addition, it is the 2nd bye round of SuperCoach. No point making big trades until the head to head match-ups begin again - AFL Round 7.

The rolling lockout comes into effect due to Thursday night's game, Brisbane vs St Kilda. Only AFL players from these two teams need be worried about until the normal Friday night lockout. (correction - Sat arvo. No Good Friday game)

eg Goddard & Riewoldt are doing fine. Unless the St Kilda football club confirms it is dropping off a cliff (highly unlikely), they should not go anywhere near the chopping block.

Injuries / Non-Selections :

It is vital to hold on cheap players (ideally) until their 3rd game. Bringing them into the team too early can be problematic.

Michael Coad from the Gold Coast Suns could have been a SuperCoach boon. Expected to rise around $65k in his next game. Unfortunately, he is out injured. Early reports are up to 14 weeks.

Simon Buckley (Collingwood) was slated for a $45k price increase. Looks to have been pushed out of the team already.

Matthew Watson (Carlton) was on track for a $50k rise. Will likely be on the fringe for some time.

Bargain Selections :

In defence, Dylan Grimes & Josh Toy are still at their base price. Consider as bench cash cows for this round if your team has a non-player in defence.

Premiums :

Nathan Fyfe is red hot. Scores of 139 & 164 over the last two rounds will ensure he leaps in price in the next few weeks. As a Mid/Fwd is doubly attractive.

Jed Adcock is still good value. Scores of 111 & 143 will bump his asking price considerably.
