SuperCoach Round 21 - The Finals Begin

Big Questions for Round 21 :

Dean Cox. Rib injury a massive headache. Selected in team, but against Melbourne could see lots of bench time. Unknown how his recovery will be. Could drag down his stellar 2011. May even be a finals dud.

Geelong. Chapman & Corey named on bench for walk in the park against Adelaide. One of them named as sub? Bye next round & probable bye in Week 2 of AFL finals says no. Problem area this week, nonetheless.

SuperCoach Finals Draw

Adelaide

Round 21 : Geelong
Round 22 : Gold Coast
Round 23 : Richmond
Round 24 : West Coast

Easy matches are the two least important for SuperCoaches. Like Brisbane, defenders only glimmer of hope for SuperCoaches. Even so, not worth considering.

Brisbane

Round 21 : Gold Coast
Round 22 : Collingwood
Round 23 : West Coast
Round 24 : Sydney

No good. Only worth is defenders. Adcock too inconsistent, despite the appearance of a return to form via recent scoring.

Carlton

Round 21 : Fremantle
Round 22 : Hawthorn
Round 23 : BYE
Round 24 : St Kilda

Bad draw. Coupled with bye. Hold or trade Murphy, Judd, Gibbs & Scotland for Round 23? Or out of trades already?

Collingwood

Round 21 : St Kilda
Round 22 : Brisbane
Round 23 : Fremantle
Round 24 : Geelong

Huge worry about the resting of players during finals. Round 24 may see many on the pine.

Essendon

Round 21 : Bulldogs
Round 22 : West Coast
Round 23 : Port Adelaide
Round 24 : BYE

Good run home. Final round bye has meant that many SuperCoaches have planned life without Essendon.

Fremantle

Round 21 : Carlton
Round 22 : North Melbourne
Round 23 : Collingwood
Round 24 : Bulldogs

Not great. Good news is Sandilands must stay on the park for long periods. Resting in forward line when not in ruck. Most SuperCoaches will have an abundance of Docker midfielders - Pavlich, Fyfe, Mzungu, Broughton & even Lower. Concern over their output.

Geelong

Round 21 : Adelaide
Round 22 : BYE
Round 23 : Sydney
Round 24 : Collingwood

Horror draw for SuperCoaches. Adelaide only comfortable match. Sydney surely a win, but the Swans will have much more at stake. Negative tactics would seem necessary for them - possibly deflating the scores of key Geelong players. Round 24 match awaited in horror. Resting players a big downer.

Gold Coast

Round 21 : Brisbane
Round 22 : Adelaide
Round 23 : Melbourne
Round 24 : Hawthorn

Smooth sailing through the finals. Ablett should enjoy an easy time. Bock may see a little less ball in the backline than the Suns have been accustomed to.

Hawthorn

Round 21 : Port Adelaide
Round 22 : Carlton
Round 23 : Bulldogs
Round 24 : Gold Coast

Great run home, with the exception of Carlton. Bags for Buddy. Mitchell, Hodge & Rioli likely to continue racking up the points. Concern over Round 24 match against Gold Coast - if firmly in 3rd place, could rest key players.

Melbourne

Round 21 : West Coast
Round 22 : Richmond
Round 23 : Gold Coast
Round 24 : Port Adelaide

Excellent draw. Question is how much chopping & changing will Viney undertake? Jamar could have a picnic against Richmond & Port.

North Melbourne

Round 21 : BYE
Round 22 : Fremantle
Round 23 : St Kilda
Round 24 : Richmond

Petrie will find it tough against St Kilda. May do well in other two games.

Port Adelaide

Round 21 : Hawthorn
Round 22 : Bullldogs
Round 23 : Essendon
Round 24 : Melbourne

If it were another team, would be an easy run home. Not so for Port. Lobbe, a bench option for many SuperCoaches, unlikely to pay good dividends.

Richmond

Round 21 : Sydney
Round 22 : Melbourne
Round 23 : Adelaide
Round 24 : North Melbourne

Quite a good draw for the finals. Deledio a must. Jack Riewoldt may be in for some good returns.

St Kilda

Round 21 : Collingwood
Round 22 : Sydney
Round 23 : North Melbourne
Round 24 : Carlton

Bad run home. Forwards, such as Nick Riewoldt, unlikely to score big. Dal Santo, the end of his golden run?

Sydney

Round 21 : Richmond
Round 22 : St Kilda
Round 23 : Geelong
Round 24 : Brisbane

Two easy games & two tough ones. Will still be in the hunt in Round 24 - thankfully no threat of resting players. Goodes & Mumford the likely big names to consider.

West Coast

Round 21 : Melbourne
Round 22 : Essendon
Round 23 : Brisbane
Round 24 : Adelaide

By far the easiest run home. Consideration of WC players a must for finals. Particularly forwards & midfielders. Priddis a simple selection. Cox, a maybe. Could Kennedy finally deliver another huge bag or two?

Western Bulldogs

Round 21 : Essendon
Round 22 : Port Adelaide
Round 23 : Hawthorn
Round 24 : Fremantle

Tough run, by their lowly 2011 standards. Could be all losses, which will hurt SuperCoach scoring potential.
