SuperCoach AFL - Reserve Rucks

SuperCoach AFL reserve ruckman look a doddle this year. Reserve ruckmen are the worst vehicles toward easy cash. They often do not get the game time to prosper.

Usually, a #3 ruckman is chosen to fill in a few games. He should play most of the season in his AFL team and remain as the #3 in finals. To maintain depth. As he was bought cheaply, a good SuperCoach should maximise revenue from other sources.

The #4 would never play on the SuperCoach team. He would be the one opportunity to make a single trade for cash. Bought dirt cheap (under $90k) and sold for another dirt cheap.

In 2010, there is ample opportunity to pick two #3 ruckmen. One can be traded out at season's end for profit. If a suitable cheapie starts mid to late year, a possible double trade. Rucks are historically the worst cash earners in SuperCoach.

Warnock Carl $132k  0gms

Carlton's #1 ruckman. Doesn't mean alot of game time. At that price, I would be over the moon if he could average 60. Would play a very important role in my SuperCoach team even if he never made the park there.

Prediction: 2010 - 55 avg Worth $275k
Break even : 26 avg

Charman Bris $159k  3gms,  30 avg

A dicy decision. He seems cheap enough to take the seemingly larger injury risk than with Warnock. Unsure where he ranks in the Brisbane hierarchy. Talk that Clark will resume a different role. Leaving a battle between Charman & Leuenburger ($245k, 3gms, 58avg). The next few weeks will hopefully reveal. Could easily be trumped by one of the next two.

Late scratching. Charman has not pulled up from the injury in NAB rd 2. Wait and see.

Break even : 32 avg

Unlucky Losers:

Lobbe PA $100k  0gms

Lobbe is one of only 4 dual position ruck/forwards. The others are Tippett, Petrie (suspended rnds 1&2) & C Cloke (rookie-listed and too expensive anyway). For this reason alone, expect to see Lobbe everywhere in 2010. He was anointed as the #2 ruckman at Port a week or two ago. It appears unlikely. He will share the duties with Westhoff, meaning perhaps 10 matches and limited game time in each.

Further news: Westhoff has more than likely taken the #2 spot. Lobbe is not as promising as it first appeared.

Trengrove PA $100k  0gms

Doesn't appear on the radar as a ruckman in 2010. Is a chance to sneak into the backline for Port. If he does, in round one, I may replace Charman for him. Would be very happy to have a moderate scoring defender as a reserve ruckmen.

Also a dual position player. However, a ruck/defender. There are only 2 of these creatures in SuperCoach AFL 2010. The other is an overpriced K Bradley. Not a reason to pick Trengrove. Not one little bit.

Due to the defender shortage this year, it may be better slotting Trengrove into the backline instead.

Lobbe/Trengrove Break-even: 20 avg

Smokeys:

Currie Syd $100k  0gms

Roughead WB $100k  0gms

McEvoy StK $217k  11gms, 41 avg
2010 Break even: 43 Prediction: 60 Worth $300k

Currie is talented, with great ball skills. Unfortunately, there are 3 ruckmen ahead of him. 2 If you are happy to count White as a forward. Not much game time forecast this year. Would have to be selected as a forward by Sydney. Unlikely.

Roughead is having a great time as the #2 ruckman during the NAB Cup. When Minson returns, hard to see continued game time. However, he may be worth the pick in the shorter term.

McEvoy has looked great on field. At his price, though still cheap, he would have to find his way to #2 in St Kilda. Entirely possible. Keep an eye out.

The Why? Pick:

West Geel $109k  1gm, 12 avg

Bellchambers Ess $138k  6gms, 26 avg

Both are #3 ruckman at their clubs. There are a couple of flaky rucks above them. Hille & Ottens. Giving a chance of action later in the season. I can't see the point in banking on an injury. The reserve ruck stocks of SuperCoach AFL are deep this year. In years past, both would be useful picks at #4 in the SuperCoach team.
