Very close to the first lockout. Which Carlton & Richmond players will you select?
Champions
Either of these guys would be an excellent candidate for the Round 1 Captaincy Trick
Gibbs $569k NAB 3gms, 98 avg
An up & coming star. Murphy's injury comeback & Judd's suspension could be very important. The Blues' horror early draw is the other key - 6 tough games in 7 weeks.
Added up, too tough to pick Gibbs early. Very attractive price, though.
Deledio $550k NAB 3gms, 100 avg
Tiger's best player. An easy pick in years past due to being a mid/fwd. Definite value in selection. Question is : are there better midfielders for the price? Looking at the sub 580k or 590k range, I would say yes.
Definites:
Martin $169k
Best Rookie Midfielders
Warnock $132
Reserve Rucks
Maybes:
Connors $177k
Top Rookie Midfielders
Betts $399k NAB 3gms, 110 avg
Will be considered far and wide due to exceptional pre-season scoring. Finished 2009 spending a bit of time in the midfield. Selection would require this to continue. May be a chance for early time, with Judd out. From then, it would appear Betts could be stuck up forward.
Then again. A crap Carlton forward line combined with a quality midfield could see Betts prosper through the season.
Waite $408k NAB 2gms, 53 avg (94 in last game)
An unknown as far as his knee handling the year. Otherwise, a star of the Blues lineup. Will he play back or forward? It looks like CHB. Will still pull some good scores from there. Not ideal.
